Before knowing the term of Search engine Optimization we need to learn about Search Engine. Search Engine is a software which performs searches in the internet and list appropriate websites to its users from its database. In order to list a website for a search in a Search Engine it must have that website included in its database. Otherwise the search engine will not show that website for any search term. There are hundreds of thousands of Search Engines available in the internet. Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask search engine are the biggest among others.

To list a website in a Search Engine, we need to submit the URL of our website. Many search engines have website submission pages of their own. These are Google’s,Yahoo’s, and Bing’s website submission pages. As you know Google is the biggest search engine right there. If you perform a search in Google you will find there are more than thousands of answers available. For example “friend” term has 4,180,000,000 results. It means there are 4,180,000,000 websites in Google’s database matching for “friend” term. To give most appropriate and user friendly answer first, Google use a special algorithm. This algorithm intelligently filters out inappropriate content and provides most appropriate content well.

However, we can tweak this algorithm to make our website show in the first place of a search term. That’s what we call Search Engine Optimization.
